There’s always something you don’t know.

One of the things about being gaikokujin (in other words, not Japanese) at FujiRock is that there are always booths, groups and initiatives whose purpose remains entirely unknown. You can’t read the signs, and the explanations are too convoluted for you to follow the Japanese, presuming you can speak any at all.

On one hand, it would make sense for me to post this photo, do a little research, and explain to you what iPledge is all about. On the other hand, the entire point is that sometimes, you just don’t know. It ought to be frustrating but weirdly, it’s kind of cool. FujiRock feels immensely inclusive, but it’s neat to be reminded that there’s so much more happening, so much more depth, than you could possibly understand; that you are, indeed, in someone else’s country.
