The fin.
There’s a lot of ways to make an impression, but Kobe outfit The fin. went with a tired-and-true method at the Rookie A Go-Go stage late Saturday night – be freakin’ loud. Despite boasting songs that featured chilled-out electronic touches and smooth vocal delivery courtesy of lead singer Yuto Uchino, the biggest takeaway from their set was the commanding volume of it. The fin. weren’t necessarily using that as a weapon, though, as their songs grooved forward nicely enough, strutting numbers that easily could have been pleasant backdrops for Uchino’s high-pitched, English lyrics. Yet it was the way these otherwise easy-grooving tunes suddenly turned intimidating – without being off putting – that was the best aspect of The fin.
