BLOODEST SAXOPHONE feat. JEWEL BROWN
Talk about a great border-breaking performance. Japanese outfit Bloodest Saxophone teamed up with American jazz and blues belter Jewel Brown for a late afternoon set Sunday at Fuji Rock 2015, and the end result was a lovely bit of throwback pomp. The prior play horn-accented, vintage swing music that already delivers a stompin’ time, and the addition of Brown only made the show all the more forceful. Her voice pushed the music along, and added some extra energy to an already pulsing set. It wasn’t a totally high-energy performance, as all involved parties made space for more reflective (read: slower) songs, but the real heart of this Field Of Heaven set was the upper tempo cuts.
