E.scene is a bass, drum and vocal 3 piece hailing from Niigata, and they are quite young. In fact the average age of the three members is only 19. Basically you legally couldn’t buy them a beer after a set of you wanted to. Despite their young age, though, they really seem to know what they are doing.

Their sound comes across as rooted in 90’s R&B, which is funny because none of the members would have been born then. But the slap bass and occasional synth pad drumming definitely hail from a bygone age. Certainly not in a negative way mind you.

The vocals, however, is where the band really gets their mojo. Jazzy, brassy and big. And again, supremely confident coming from the pipes of an 18 year old.

Despite the rain, E.scene managed to not only pull in a comparatively big crowd from the beginning, but the crowd grew throughout the set. Not bad for the new kids in the block. 20 bucks says this isn’t their last Fuji Rock performance.
