Shuta Hasunuma and his Philharmonic Orchestra brought the morning crowds gently to life with their relaxed and soothing performance at Field of Heaven on Saturday morning.

Incorporating a full, deeply layered philharmonic sound, steel drums, and vocals, Hasunuma never broke a sweat but never needed to. The pace was decidedly laid-back, peppered with soaring vocals and the occasional lighthearted hip-hop interlude.

Appearing throughout Japan and abroad to showcase his number of talents, Hasunuma has his feet solidly planted in a variety of performing arts fields including film, theater, dance and music production. Today he has brought a solid team of talented performers playing all original arrangements to the Field of Heaven, playing through light drizzle to those still enjoying their morning coffee surrounding the stage.

The songs complex structures and densely layered arrangements provided a lot to appreciate, but it seemed Hasunuma just wanted everyone to feel the gentle energy of the performance, which the poncho-clad crowd seemed to embrace as they swayed along in the morning mist.
