One-man-band busker extraordinaire
While the main attraction of Fuji Rock is the music, the surprises sprinkled about are what really make the experience unforgettable. EPPAI, anarchic clown and one-man-band, sculpts these sorts of memories like a master craftsman.
After all, it isn’t every day you see an imposingly tall blue haired fellow play piano, violin, drums and kazoo at the same time. Or juggle and play violin at the same time. Or shoot dead a flock of stuffed birds with a cap-gun. If that last one sounded out of left field, you’ve obviously never seen EPPAI before.
Like a reject from a carnival pirate ship, full of rum-soaked playfulness and unpredictability, his act is hard to take your eyes off of. This is the labour of the busker, however. After all, if you stay till they end there’s a chance you might drop some cash in their hat. If you have the chance and the resources to, please do… especially since street performers haven’t had much chance to ply their trade in recent times. Look for him performing around the festival generally, or to increase your chances head to the old Gypsy Avalon area behind the White Stage. You won’t regret it.
