Fuji Rock has been going on for a long time, and one man has been bringing the fire, and the circus, to the festival for 21 years running. That man is Genin Makoto, the affable fire-show maestro and all around entertainer who leads the Fuji Rock Daidogei team.

As quick with a joke as he is with an unexpected magic trick, Makoto is a master of the busker’s art: grabbing someone’s attention, holding that person’s attention, and convincing that person that in the end what they saw was worth a bit of their cold, hard-earned cash. And Makoto’s breezy banter and remarkable flaming torch juggling skills would have even Ebenezer Scrooge loosening his purse strings.
