The band channels influences from famed Japanese artists

Downt, a three piece band from Tokyo, just released their first EP titled “SAKANA ep” in June 2022. This band just formed in Spring 2021, and they have already made their way to Fuji Rock, playing at the Rookie-A-Go-Go stage which is a project and stage that supports up-and-coming musicians.

During their 30-minute stage, Downt showcased their melancholic tunes that are reminiscent of Radwimps who rose to fame with their soundtrack for the famous animated movie, “Your Name” and who headlined on the Green Stage at Fuji Rock 2021. The only twist is, Downt’s female lead singer, who moved the crowd with her beautiful voice which mirrors 90’s/00’s singer, Chara.

The band was not only expressive, but interacted with the 80-or so crowd members in a friendly and passionate way that brought their fans in to enjoy the set. Their Fuji Rock performance also commemorates the end of their “Look Ghost Tour” which was held in Aichi, Osaka, and Tokyo, supported by other musicians (The Firewood Project, Climb the Mind, Sayonara Poejy, uri gagarn, paionia) that the band admires and respects.
