Promise and Potential

Canadian indie band The Tiva had a bit of bite at their Saturday Rookie a Go-Go show. The band had a heavy, edgy indie sound, but the biggest standout was the vocals. Singer Maya has a very unique and interesting voice, unlike any I’ve heard before. And I liked it! Her sludgy, occasionally sharply distorted guitars were impressive as well. Drummer Sachi also provided her own floor-tom heavy drumming style to the mix, which worked well rounding out the sound.

The highlight of the set was probably set closer Go Back Our Home, with infectiously catchy vocals and strong fundamentals.
If these are the rookie first steps of a band with a long future ahead of them then I think we are in luck, because there is a lot of potential here.
