Every purchase comes with a towel

Every Fuji Rock veteran has a first ritual.

Some make a beeline for the beer tents. Others rush to secure a front-row spot at Green Stage.
Mine starts with a brisk walk past Green Stage and straight to the unmistakable yellow-and-red Tower Records tent.

Because if there’s one piece of festival wisdom worth passing along, it’s this: don’t wait.
Tower Records’ exclusive Fuji Rock merchandise has become one of the festival’s annual traditions, and the best items rarely survive the opening day.

While the American chain disappeared from its home country years ago, Tower Records found a second life in Japan. Instead of fading into history, the iconic music retailer doubled down on physical music, artist collaborations and live events, becoming a cultural institution for music lovers. Its famous slogan, “No Music, No Life,” has become almost a mission statement for Japanese record collectors and concertgoers.

At Fuji Rock, that philosophy comes to life. Each year, the booth releases a fresh collection of festival-exclusive apparel ranging from T-shirts and bandanas to shorts, hats and accessories. The designs change annually, making each year’s collection a wearable time capsule of the festival.

The biggest draw, however, isn’t hanging on the racks. It’s the free yellow Tower Records neck towel handed out with every purchase—while supplies last.

If you’ve spent even one afternoon under the summer sun at Naeba Ski Resort, you’ll understand why these towels have developed something of a cult following. They’re perfect for wiping away sweat, draping around your neck between stages or simply tying onto your backpack as a badge that says, “I was here.”

And judging by previous years, they disappear almost as quickly as headliner tickets.
That’s why the queue starts forming early Friday morning.Fortunately, waiting isn’t exactly a chore.

The line snakes past racks filled with neatly arranged shirts available in sizes from small to XXL, giving shoppers plenty of time to compare designs before reaching the register.
The front keeps things classic with a clean “FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2026” logo.

Turn the shirt around, however, and that’s where the magic happens.Every year, Tower Records commissions an artist to create an original back graphic inspired by Fuji Rock’s unmistakable atmosphere. The result isn’t just another band shirt—it’s limited-edition artwork that captures a moment in the festival’s history. Years later, those shirts become conversation pieces, instantly transporting owners back to muddy trails, surprise performances and unforgettable sunsets over Green Stage.

The shopping perks don’t end there.Every purchase is packed into one of Tower Records’ instantly recognizable yellow tote bags, another item that proves surprisingly useful over the weekend. Lightweight but roomy enough for sunscreen, a rain jacket, water bottle and a handful of vinyl purchases, it quickly becomes an essential companion as festivalgoers bounce from stage to stage.

Like many of the best things at Fuji Rock, it’s practical without sacrificing style.
Tower Records has long understood that festivals aren’t just about the music—they’re about taking a piece of the experience home.

Long after the tents come down and the mountain echoes fade, that T-shirt hanging in your closet, the faded yellow towel, or the well-worn tote bag becomes a reminder of one incredible weekend in the mountains.

So before the first guitar riff rings out across Green Stage, before the crowds swell and the merchandise racks start looking a little emptier, do yourself a favor. Make Tower Records your first stop.By Saturday afternoon, you’ll almost certainly wish you had.
