Fuji Rock is a busy place. There is so much to take in…and, more precisely, so much time spent running between stages…that it’s easy to bypass interesting little areas completely. One can take in a lot of sights between the Green and White stages, but look the wrong way and you might miss one of the more interesting side roads at this year’s fest.
It’s called Bunny Rock Festival, and it’s charming as heck. A cute sign, flanked by four rabbits (each in a different color) welcomes you. Then, keep walking, and more rabbits will appear along the side of the forest (all of them wearing shorts that say “Boys Don’t Cry” on them…I guess these rabbits like The Cure). Many of them have little items and sometimes hold signs. The actual boardwalk, meanwhile, is painted with messages from people, ranging from no-nukes slogans to band logos. The Nine Inch Nails plank really stood out among all the cutesy stuff. It’s a pleasant break from the hustle and bustle of festival life…keep your eyes out for it.
