Fuji Rock is more than just a music festival, it’s a chance to raise awareness about some of the natural wonders of Japan that may slip under the radar at other times of the year. The iconic mountain that bears Fuji Rock’s name was officially recognized as a World Heritage site on June 26 this year, a move that is expected to give the cone-shaped peak a much-needed surge in interest — so much so, that local officials are even considering introducing a fee to climb it. These two chaps were seen loitered around the back of the Green Stage, and are on hand to offer people advice about climbing Mount Fuji, as well as other tourism-based topics related to the region. So don’t be shy to ask them anything and remember the old saying: “It is a wise man who climbs Fuji-san, but only a fool climbs it twice.”
