Prior to their Red Marquee set, Local Natives stopped by the MTV Stage in Gan-Ban square for a stripped down acoustic set. They told the crowd of a hundred or so people that they usually don’t play acoustic, but had made special arrangements of a few songs for this intimate performance. The quintet played “Breakers” and “You & I” from this year’s Hummingbird album along with “Wide Eyes” and “Who Knows Who Cares” from their 2009 Gorilla Manor full-length debut. Prior to starting set closer “Who Knows Who Cares” they shared that they were looking forward to seeing Nine Inch Nails and rightfully said that Fuji Rock “is one of the coolest festivals in the world,” earning them some extra applause from an already happy audience.
