Porter Robinson is a superstar on the DJ circuit, and his 90-minute set at the Red Marquee Friday night attests to the dispensation he receives as a performer. Though the shed wasn’t packed, the people who were there were totally committed to Robinson’s aesthetic. When he said bounce, they bounced, about once ever five minutes, in fact, which shows how reliant Robinson is on break beats. There wasn’t a whole lot of development to his set. Just one thing after another, with Robinson playing the God of the effects mixers. You can pretty much get the same vibe at home with a good house music compilation. And there you’re in charge.
