KAITO Live

Veteran techno/ambient act Kaito was the perfect choice to play a daytime set at the spectacularly relaxing Daydreaming and Slient Breeze area which awaits you at the end of the Dragondola on Sunday. There was a steady stream of people alighting the blue gondola pods and it was plain to see that as soon as they got off, they were drawn to Kaito’s waves of digital bliss as if his music literally felt like a breeze drifting through the mountaintops. Hiroshi Watanabe is not your average electronic music producer / DJ. This very talented man graduated from probably the most prestigious school of its kind in the world, the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he earned a degree in music composition. Since 2001 he has released a substantial amount of material as “Kaito” for the awesome Cologne, Germany label Kompakt. One particular release of note is his 2010 album called Trust Less which was an ambient, beatless version of the techno album Trust he had put out six months earlier. The highlight of his set was the 15 minute tune he finished off with as it wavered in and out of drone sounds and dance rhythms. If you would like to get a taste of Kaito’s music you can listen to a 75 minute set he did for Dommune last year here.
