THE BOHICAS

The Bohicas are coming off a four-song EP they released last year, and preparing to release their first full-length in the UK, so this really was a first look. And we’d have to say, they looked pretty good. Playing the Red Marquee Sunday afternoon, the British four-piece blasted out some hard funk rock, over which vocalist Dominic McGuinness sings silky smooth and possibly even Brian Wilson-esque melodies. The songs are catchy, singable and charismatic, while the rhythm section all sing the harmonies and the yet at the same time brings some very heavy riffs to the table and seems intent on rocking your freakin’ socks off. To put it another way, it’s as if McGuinness is singing for the radio, while the band is playing for the heads in the live house. It’s an intriguing combo. They’re touring heavily in the UK right now, and one would suppose if they build a following, they’ll be back.
