FLIGHT FACILITIES

LIVE REPORT

Two “pilots” perched atop a ‘control tower’ dj-booth, zooming airplane visuals, in-flight PA announcement intros, and a sample lifted from “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”. On paper, a set like this would be difficult to pull off without running into some heavy cheese-factor, but Flight Facilities showed White Stage crowds that as long as you’re dancing, not much else matters.

They pumped out high-energy electro-house and disco-pop tunes, keeping things interesting by featuring two guest vocalists who tag-teamed to cover the lyrical work, standing in for such artists as Owl Eyes, Kylie Minogue, and Reggie Watts who usually take the mic on the album versions. Giving more energy to the set than a simple DJ / vocal backing track setup, Flight Facilities decision to incorporate guest vocalists on stage paid off, and they were both vocally strong, doing justice to some of their biggest recent hits, “Clare de Lune”, “Sunshine” and “Crave You”.

Initially it seemed pulling out all the stops and running with the aviation theme for which they are named could perhaps a bit too literal (pilot uniforms, control tower, etc), but Flight Facilities made it work for them.
