Trio craft dude-centric yarns over laid-back grooves
Long-running trio G.Love & Special Sauce took to the Field Of Heaven Saturday afternoon to do what they do best…craft detailed yarns of the dude life, stories you’d normally tell your friends in a bar reimagined for upright bass and laid-back guitar playing. G. Love himself (government name: Garrett Dutton) moves through this arrangement like Michael Phelps does a pool, except this pool is full of Bud Light and women of questionable scruples sit on the side. His slow-motion, rap-speak vocals meshing well with the in-no-hurry jamming of his two bandmates, Dutton only ducking out of the way when letting one of the other two have a solo. It was solid late afternoon fare for the area, and a great way to sway away the last hours of sunlight.
