JAKE BUGG

LIVE REPORT

The much hyped and well promoted Jake Bugg did not disappoint. Though the crowd at the Green Stage was on the small size, they were all thoroughly entertained with a slew of hits from this young artists back catalogue. Opener “Slumville Sunrise” got the crowd going before he segued into “Two Fingers” which is quite an interesting song if you know what he is referring to. I’m not one to jude when it comes to how and what people write about but this artist is young and he obviously has a different way of thinking.

Later in the set he played “Seen it All” and “Love, Hope and Misery”. Bugg certainly shines when the focus is squarely on him, though many were happy to see him invite a backing band to the festival. At such a young age, he has already shown the guitar licks and songwriting skills that should make him a star in the future.

The sun even shone during his set requriging some to apply sunscreen as it was a near perfect afternoon weather wise. The music certainly fit the mood for people looking for a good time with beer and reinks floweing. And catchy numbers like “Gimme the Love” kept people dancing while waiting for his closing number “Lightning Bolt” which is an an inter generraitonal hit, brinding many different genres and formats.

Brave Jake Bugg, a very worthy young man who can ably carry the mantle of rock and roll into the future.
