DJ misoshiru & MC gohan
Considering they played a stones throw away from the festival’s biggest headlining set, DJ Miso Shiru and MC Gohan drew an impressively large crowd to Naeba Shokudo on Sunday. Peeling fans away from the Red Hot Chili Peppers set heard in the distance, MC Gohan’s food-centric rhymes seems perfectly suited to a stage connected to a restaurant. In her trademark rainbow propeller cap, she cutely talk-rapped through a few numbers and called for audience participation on call-and-response sections.
A midway intermission from the music served as a chat with audience members to find out their most-hated foods, and she shared some advice on how to maybe make them less-hated. Back to the raps, DJ Miso Shiru’s laptop churned out homemade sounding beats, many of them using what sound like toy instruments. These proved to be a good backdrop for MC Gohan’s subject matter, which was entertaining but never took itself too seriously. All in all, a fun distraction for many from the alternative, a big-name crowd pulling rock band.
