BAAUER
Viral hit-maker Baauer picked up where Kill The Noise’s set left off just before him, playing a straight forward EDM set to a sizable Red Marquee “Tribal Circus” crowd on Saturday. Not straying far from the tried and true big-build/big-drop EDM formula, but still keeping it complex enough to keep the crowd on their toes, Baauer made sure nothing got played out and switched things up frequently. Giving fans only a small taste of each pulsing bit before moving onto the next, the drops kept coming but the mood never felt stale.
Backed by huge images of industrial robot assembly and ancient underwater ruins being explored by diving capsule, he worked in both straight-up and remixed tracks from some of his contemporaries, including RL Grime and What So Not. Everyone swayed in anticipation with the build up to each thunderous climax before Baauer let everything go, the crowd hitting their cue to scream and go wild. Before handing the torch to Todd Terry, who was up next in the “Tribal Circus” lineup, he made sure to work in the track that made him famous, “The Harlem Shake”, and the crowd got what they came for.
