JACK GARRATT
Jack Garratt took his place on the Red Marquee stage behind a huge bank of drums and synths to huge applause. A veritable one-man band, he stayed busy manipulating every drumpad and knob, all the while belting out amazing vocal range in each and every track. Often screaming with emotion, Garratt’s brand of R&B infused songs have a singer-songwriter hand crafted feel to them but go a step beyond, with added depth from the variety of music making machines spread out before him.
He worked in crowd favorites, like “Chemical” and reached a climax with the hit, “Worry”. All the electronic clicks, drum machine pops and synth stabs provide structure to the fabric of his music, but really take a backseat to his amazing voice. Alone on the stage without any supporting members, Garratt had afternoon crowds enthralled, putting everything he had into his emotionally charged set.
