WIWEK
Wiwek’s Friday night set at the Red Marquee got into the EDM dance groove quickly and didn’t stray far from it, a formula that many fans seemed happy with, their voices rising with each solid bass drop the remix artist let loose. Wiwek’s trademark “Jungle Terror” sound is characterized by tribal drums, sirens, chimes and animal shreiks, sandwiched between big builds and big drops.
Peppered with a number of Wiwek’s own tracks (“Trouble” and “Riot”, among others), he also worked in many remixes, including one of big dancefloor filler “Booyah” by Showtek. It wasn’t until the final moments that the relentless bass gave way to more dramatic and atmospheric pop vocal, spinning the dancefloor crowds into a well-deserved cooldown.
