Japanese soccer fans assemble at Fuji Rock
I think three years of doing something at the same place deserves to be considered a “tradition.” Well, here’s a Fuji Rock Saturday staple, in that case. During the morning, fans of Japanese soccer (specifically the nation’s J-League) gather in the middle of the food area next to the Red Marquee. These punters sport kits of their favorite teams and, once everyone is gathered together, they have a little fun together before hitting the stages.
The 2015 edition of Fuji Rock featured this gathering once again, with fans wearing jerseys of all sorts of colors coming together to do team chants (clusters of supporters getting turns to rep for their club) while at one point several fans waved a “fair play” banner way. A music festival is, in theory, already one massive community of music fans coming together…well, this was a yearly reminder of the sub communities making up the crowd, too.
