THE FULL TEENZ
“I think we are going to be finished in 15 minutes,” the lead singer of Kyoto trio THE FULL TEENZ said shortly into their Rookie-A-Go-Go set Saturday. The group had already plowed through about five of their songs — each at about two minutes long, though even that seemed a little buffed out — and they realized that they might have a bit of time left over of their allotted half-hour set. They laughed, and then tore into another frantic rock number.
Whatever time THE FULL TEENZ would leave on the clock was justified, though, as their music worked best in short bursts. They play surf-rock tinged music that just zips on by, the group boiling down the essentials of their sound (fuzzed-out guitars, drums, lyrics about beaches and melancholy) and just tearing through it. With the extra time, THE FULL TEENZ decided to have some fun, first by doing some goofy poses before ripping into guitar solos (while a dedicated half-dozen fans in the front sorta did kickflips off the security barrier) and basically whirlwinding around stage.
They did pull off one hell of a closer though, even if it almost fell on its face. The lead singer made his intentions to go into the crowd clear, and he dashed for the security barrier…only to fall off it while trying to hurdle over about three times. Staff helped him over, and then he was being carried around by those aforementioned fans, the singer putting his hands behind his head like he was chilling next to a pool. They threw him back on stage, THE FULL TEENZ ripped one more song off and then ran off stage. And hey, only about five minutes early.
