The Palace Of Wonder area was surprisingly full on the Saturday night (errrr, Sunday morning) of Fuji Rock 2015. The area, a few hundred feet from the main entrance, always attracts a healthy crowd, but on the second night of this year’s gathering it seemed especially packed. It was in particularly elbow-to-elbow for rock outfit told, participating on the Rookie-A-Go-Go stage. It was a good chance for the young band to impress a large crowd.
The quartet’s music brought to mind turn-of-the-century emo rock, loaded up with vocals nearing (but never totally giving in to) a scream and guitars. Loud, loud guitars. Those were far more willing to lose themselves, as at various points told created an intense squall and just let it hang over their music. They also always seemed to be holding something back, never hitting any release and at times opting to transition to slower ballad-ish material. Yet they had their moments of energy, and the large crowd stuck around to watch the whole show.
