Get the funk out!

Odoru Disco Muromachi already had an eager crowd waiting for them as they opened up the Rookie stage for the weekend, but as they continued playing they garnered even more of an audience through a funky, fun and engaging performance.

They kicked off with a track from their most recent release “Odoruyo Ni” (which just came out on their new album last week) a number they made sure to be at the top of their website for all curious fans.  With a playful guitar riff and a frontman who had no problem getting the crowd involved they soon had everyone at the front dancing along, including their tambourine player who was bopping enthusiastically when he wasn’t providing vocal duties.

The band delivered 30 minutes of rocking funk, heavy on blues guitar solos, run through with a rolling bass line and punctuated with classic yet inventive riffing from the rhythm guitar.  It was difficult to make comparisons until their second to last started up in the vein of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but once that number was out the way, the band finished off with a raucous tune that left those walking away afterwards with something to remember.  A great band to start the weekend.
