Wrapping Your Mind Around Philly Cheesesteak
A taste of Philly near the camp ground
The variety in food at Fuji Rock has exploded in recent years, to the point that heading to Naeba I felt like it would be tough for a new stand to surprise me. Yet while walking by the camp site entrance, three words caught my eyes and made me rethink that assumption — “Philly Cheesesteak Wrap.” It was being sold at the Hyappa X Ja Nai!! collaborative area, which also offers up a variety of craft beers from Hyappa Brews. No doubt those are tasty too, but my focus was on this wrap, filled with thinly sliced steak, a few green peppers and cheese. Those expecting a truly authentic experience should temper those hopes a little — it isn’t going to transport you to the City Of Brotherly Love (especially since not all the cheese melts). But the meat and peppers mix nicely, and offer up a filling taste that makes for a nice meal.
