LIVE REPORT WHITE STAGE 7/28 FRI

TRAIN

Dave Frazier

Fuji Rock has some fun throwbacks, and early Friday as I mentioned to folks that I was walking over to see Train at the White Stage, I was met by comments like, “Those guys are still a band? Yeah, I guess they could still be playing. Interesting choice.”

And: “Yeah, we’re gonna run over and catch Train too. They’re almost finished. We just want to see ‘Hey, Soul Sister,’ and we’re pretty sure they’ll be playing it last, or maybe second to last.”

The San Francisco pop rockers dished out their mellow vibe, including the early hits everyone wanted to hear, “Hey, Soul Sister”, “Drops of Jupiter”, “Calling All Angels” and “Meet Virginia”. As well as more recent releases off their new album A Girl, A Bottle, A Boat (2017). Dressed in black, they still carried the pop beachy vibes. It was a fun enough way to start the day.
