Chugging through songs

By this point, the festival is getting really good as most of the stages have shuttered and everyone is at the World Court grabbing their last licks of fish and chips and paella. For veterans of the festival, its a good opportunity to refuel as tonight’s party might go till 5AM.

So, I am like the other punters here, leaning on one of the tables and drinking an ESB ale and taking in one of the down low grittiest band which have played this year’s festival. For a moment, I think I’m in Seattle or Portland, listening to a garage act.

China Wife Motors has that pounding beat and a relentlessly energy which leaves no time for patter between songs. The trio composed of Tsunehiko Kajita on guitar and vocal and Masakai Noda on
bass and Toyoaki Nagai on drums chug through tunes like a frat boy goes through beers. There is energy, passion, and everything that is glorious and righteous about music.

I’m posted up and taking it all in. There’s a part of me which feels the band could be a little louder but heck, it’s the end of the festival and I’m just trying to think about how I am gonna survive this damn night. After 4 days of music, some good ol’fashioned garage-grunge-sludge is just what you need.
