Fuji Rock crowds have been treated to circus shows before, but none quite like Pyratrix Circus. The carnival vibe is strong with this group and they do a grand job of rounding up punters prior to their show with stilt-walkers and contortion acts out in the Orange Court space they’ve taken over for the festival.

One might have wondered what the crowd made of someone dislocating their shoulder and waving it about while squeezing through a tennis racquet, but clearly hooked and curious, we filed in to the nearby tent where the Pyratrix Circus warmed everyone up with some tunes before the show proper began. To a backing track of some nice a dirty drum ’n bass (possibly the first time Fuji Rock has had any for a long while?) we were treated to a hoop acrobatics, stilt-walkers, gimp shows and dancing twins, all to vocal accompaniment which carries on even when the music cuts out.

The circus will be running until late tonight and will be back on Saturday and Sunday afternoon for more shenanigans and is definitely worth checking out while you’re up that end of the festival site.
