The gates opened fifteen minutes ago and the first members of the Fuji Rock crowd are trickling into the Oasis area for the start of tonight’s opening festivities. We took a stroll around the site earlier in some glorious late afternoon sunshine – it’s nice to take in the lush grass carpeting the Green Stage and wander the boardwalk as the crickets chirrup and laughter filters through the trees from some early revellers.

Tonight kicks off with the traditional Bon Odori dance in the centre of the food court, an event which is open to ticket-holders and local residents. Following a fireworks display, the Red Marquee will fill up for the yearly kick-off speech and crowd photo.
