Kicking up the dust

On the second day of the festival at the White Stage, OLEDICKFOGGY fans gradually started to gather as the sky was overcast with a tinge of rain. The field was dusty for sure, and when the five member band formed in 2003 began with its banjo and Irish punk rhythms, lots of dust and stone flew in the air.

The band is no stranger to Fuji Rock, originally debuting as Rookie a Go Go band in 2008. And now, ten years later, what a fabulous trip it has been, returning to the Fuji stage for the first time in ten years.

The band started with the title song from their album “Gerato”. It immediately got the mosh pit going, and this was just the start of what would be an hour long set of swagger, Celtic reels, and lots of food pounding.

The mix of eclectic ethnic sounds ranging from bluegrass to country, and punk, made dancing difficult to resist. Emotional lyrics and singing were layered on top, which harkened and earlier era of music which judged performances based upon the audiences reaction. Good on you OLEDICKFOGGY, you definitely warmed some hearts and kicked up the dust.
