Get your body moving!

Who doesn’t like a little bit of lunchtime ska? More the Man’s set left not a booty unshaken at the Red Marquee on Saturday. It was a relentless ska assault, they kept their energy high and expected the crowd to do the same. Which they were more than happy to do.

The band slid from number to number with healthy doses of funk, rockabilly and jazz thrown in helping keep things fresh. Midway through the set they slowed things down with a little bit of syncopated jazz and some down tempo, slightly sentimental reggae. This gave the crowd and the horn section a much needed moment to literally catch their breath, but it did interrupt the flow of the set a bit. They did, however, come back to whip the crowd back into a party, with splashes of good-natured skanking cropping up here and there.

Towards the end the introduction of a guest vocalist gave the set a 90’s swing revival feel, and the band rounded it all out with a finale that ratcheted up the tension and tempo to a fever pitch, leaving the crowd satisfied and a little sweaty.

More the Man sure seem to enjoy what they are doing, and I believe that is the key to their infectiousness. That mixed with their almost unstoppable energy and undeniable musical chops.
