Shochu maker Iichiko has set up a stall right outside of the Red Marquee (next to the Dragondola ticket booth, for you location sticklers). Hit up the green booth to try one of three mixed beverages, which combine the traditional Japanese alcohol with lemon, green tea or apple and mint. What makes these beverages stand out is how smooth they are — I have not come to this blog post to slander beer, but sometimes that one can feel a little too heavy, especially the craft varieties. But these shochu cocktails go down easy, making for a refreshing and smooth choice. I’d opt for the apple and mint variety, especially on a hot day like today.
