Heaven raving with Goma
A Goma live didgeridoo experience is always an intense, highly memorable journey. The master didgeridooist has played Fuji Rock multiple times in the past, both solo and with his band the Jungle Rhythm Section.
While a solo Goma show can be as peaceful, calm, spiritual journey, when he links up with his 3 drummers that make up the rhythm section, things are anything but calm. Within minutes of opening their Field of Heaven set, beats were pulsating in a rave like frequency, while Goma maintained the deep, earthy, spiritual resonance that can only be produced from the mythical didgeridoo.
Goma’s tireless assault of the didger is a sight to behold. He is more than a little expressive as he plays, today saw him flapping around like a bird while the crowd cheered him on.
Goma and company fit right in playing the open air hippie filled Field of Heaven stage. Goma, as usually, but perhaps even more so today was highly emotional to be back at Fuji playing with his band in the open, fresh mountain air. He praised the crowd, the stage and the earth multiple times throughout their set.
Goma is a wonder, playing an instrument that is often marginalized or not taken serious. Whenever he performs live he caused people to stop and take notice. When he links up with the high tempo, jungle beat curators that are the Rhythm section, its impossible not to shake around with them; to join them in celebration of something special. Today was no exception.
