Thirsty Dave and his band of ol time blue grassers is a refreshing mix in a lineup of hiphop headliners.

They play American roots, blues and country music in a band that includes the essential violins, a slid guitar, over-sized belt buckles and plenty of southern twang.

Authentic sounding and dressed to fit the part. Caravan excelled in the open air of the field of heaven playing for about an hour. The smallish crowd came prepared to dance, jig and call back to our band as they played tunes about cheating lovers, Texas moons and Oklahoma days.

Sunday is the day at Fuji for Western Caravan who play twice more today. It will be interesting to see the band more up close and personal on the smaller stages tonight as it felt like they were just getting started and will really thrive in a more intimate setting. Don’t miss a lost sound of the south.
