LIVE REPORT - WHITE STAGE 7/25 FRI
ENG: OK GO
OK GO strips set down to essentials
OK GO came out to a packed crowd at White Stage and wasted no time getting into the first song, “This Too Shall Pass.” The crowd quickly sang along to the catchy chorus, and OK GO quickly had command of the audience.
The band were dressed in white and wasted no time going through a back catalogue of hits, such as “Get Over It” and “Take Me With You.” Unfortunately, this time there was no special video or other effects. Strange as the band has built a career with very creative videos on YouTube.
This appearance at White Stage was all about the music as the band took the stage at 7:40 p.m. with Damian Kulash (Vo/Gt) greeting the audience with “Thank you for your hard work!”
They played classic songs such as “White Knuckles.” The band also interacted with the audience by answering a few questions from the audience, such as “What is your favorite Japanese food?” Damien answered, “Omakase sushi.” Tim Nordwind (B/Gt, etc.) answered, “Okonomiyaki.” Andy Ross (Gt/key/B, etc.) answered, “Wagyu beef?” Dan Konopka (Ds) answered, “Beer.”
There were many songs from the new album “And the Adjacent Possible,” and songs like “A Stone Only Rolls Downhill” and “Love,” which are soon to be memorable songs. And in “Needing/Getting,” they used gadgets like old synthesizers to produce sounds.
The last songs were “I Won’t Let You Down” and “Here It Goes Again.” Both songs were popular with the audience and appeared both familiar and catchy.
