Chilling in the Heat
They say blood runs thicker than water, and for brothers Takefumi and Tomoharu Tsujimura and their unit Kiseru that means the familial vibes are thick unto solid.
The sun was very much out, and the temperatures very much high during their Saturday afternoon Orange Echo set, but sometimes the best way to beat the heat is to accept it, especially if it comes serenaded by wonderfully plain spoken vocal harmonies and rootsy folky finger-picked guitar.
The Tsujimura brothers are known for their creativity and outside the box thinking when it comes to instrumentation, something they very much brought to this set. Need drums to accompany your songs but don’t have a percussionist? No problem, Takefumi can play them with his feet while he sings and plays guitar. Need some ethereal element to really cap off a song? Tomoharu can take care of that with a bit of singing saw. Also let’s throw in some handmade instruments while we are at it! And don’t forget Keyboardist Takafumi Nomura, who also helped flesh things out with smooth piano and blipping synth. Boundless creativity.
On the whole Kiseru orchestrated a relaxed and relaxing early afternoon experience, perfect for a drowsy postprandial Fuji Rock Saturday.
